Trujillo is the capital of the Department of La Libertad and is located in the northern part of the country at 33 meters of altitude. It was founded in 1534 and is known as the Spring City due to its warm and pleasurable spring like weather. Nearby, you can visit the ruins of the largest mud city of the world known as “Chan Chan” which is located near the Huanchaco beaches, where they still maintain their ancestral custom of navigating using the reed rafts called “Caballitos de Totora” in a style that resembles today’s surfing.
 
Trujillo, of beautiful colonial houses with peculiar forged iron windows and kind people, is waiting for you.
