In Tumbes, there is an eternal summer, and it has beautiful
beaches with magical views. Its proximity with the equatorial line
defines the landscape and vegetation. Its history goes back to
centuries; when at the pre-Hispanic time settled down the Tumpis,
whose members have been considered the greatest navigators of the
Peruvian coast. They emphasized in the carving of valvas of
mollusks of the specie “Spondyllus Pictorum”, leg of donkey (Concholapas
Peruviana) and other mollusks. Their lukewarm water beaches, white
sand in the middle of paradisiac landscapes are ideal for the
practice of surfing, the leisure, the summering, the underwater
fishing and other nautical sports.
To the north of the city is Puerto Pizarro, main enter the
National Sanctuary of the Manglares, formation natural of
extensive aquatic forests that create a wonderful atmosphere
between the river and the sea. There are also tours to the Love
and Whale’s Bone islands or where also will be able to taste
delicious plates with fish and seafood.
Tumbes has a Reserved Zone; at 39 km of the city and with an
extension of 75,102 hectares. Here species characteristic of the
forest are conserved, the mountain range and the coast like
otorongo, the Andean condor and the fox of the coast. It is refuge
for endemic species of birds, animals in danger of extinction like
the crocodile and the otter of the northwest, also for mammals as
the monkey boundary and machín white, both only primates present
